PROGRAM OVERVIEW August 18-24, 2024
Cost: $2125
Inclusive of room, board and airport transportation
The goal of our week-long traditional camp is individual improvement. Each participant is provided with tools for improving their rowing skills in boats and on the erg. Nutrition and understanding of how to fuel for training, competition and recovery is a key part of our program. Awareness of individual motivation and behavior as part of a team are also key components to rowing success.
Technique: Our staff of professional coaches will oversee daily workouts on the water with a focus on improving individual technique. Our Erg Coach will review individual erg technique and discuss strategies for improving erg scores. Rowers will be asked to submit a short video of themselves rowing. Cox’ns should submit a race tape if at all possible.
Training: Participants will get specific guidance for creating their own effective training program.
Nutrition: Lindsay Shoop OLY, MsEd, CSCS will have interactive discussion about daily nutrition habits and strategies for fueling for success. She will prepare sample foods in our on site Camper Kitchen and demonstrate how to customize individual snacks based on taste preferences and allergies. Participants will be asked to complete a daily food log prior to camp. Lindsay will also run functional movement sessions with both rowers and coxswains.
Self-Awareness: Participants 16 years of age and older will have the option of completing Athlete Assessment’s AthleteDISC Profile. There is an additional fee for this service. A link to the profile will be provided prior to camp so that participants can complete it in advance. Bo Hanson will conduct a webinar during camp to explain how to use the information learned from the profile.
The College Process: Campers will learn about navigating the college process from our staff professional collegiate coaches. Coaches will discuss the Do’s and Don’ts of the process and the differences between Divisions I, II & III. A majority of our counselors are collegiate rowers and will share what it’s like to be a collegiate athlete.
