Rowers
Our experienced staff of collegiate coaches and Olympic and World Champions focus on the individual improvement of each camper. Their primary goal is to help each athlete develop the foundational skills necessary to pursue their own passion for rowing to whatever level they desire.
On the water
During two daily rowing sessions, our coaches work with one eight at a time improving technical skills by pairs, fours, sixes and all eight. The occasional scrimmage with other boats hones campers’ competitive edge.
We recently introduced sculling to campers on a limited basis using Coastal Rowing boats. Coastal Rowing will be a new Olympic discipline for our sport at the 2028 LA Olympics. Coastal “Beach Sprints” will be the rowing event at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
On land
Technical instruction on the ergometer by our dedicated Erg Coach is focused on improving rowing skills for the boat. Athletes have a chance to apply their skills to earning our iconic green “Erg Challenge” t-shirt after erging 25,000 meters during camp. Bike Ergs are also available for additional cross training.
Our dedicated Core Mobility Coach teaches campers a variety of core strengthening and mobility exercises essential to being a well-rounded athlete.
Our resident Nutritionist teaches campers about how best to fuel for practice and competition. Recipes are shared and tasted throughout the week so that campers can learn what foods they prefer and when best to consume them.
is collegiate rowing in your future?
At Northeast, campers learn the ins and outs of the college admissions process. Our philosophy is to find the best academic fit first and rowing program second. If someone wants to row in college, there is usually a way. If seeking a rowing scholarship, or a place on the U19 National Team, that process is explained as well. Our panel of professional collegiate coaches from a variety of DI and DIII programs explain how the process works at their institutions. Many of our counselors are collegiate rowers who give insights from their experiences going through the process and also talk about the transition from high school to collegiate rowing.
